About ForestStar
Built by a Forester
Jayottam
Ex-Forest Ranger · Nature enthusiast · Software tinkerer
Jayottam, like many who grew up in the late nineties and 2000s, spent his youth captivated by wildlife documentaries and exploring the wilderness on a tight college budget. After completing his Master’s in Botany, he joined the Forest Service, serving as a Ranger in the Sundarbans after training in forest conservation across more than 20 Indian states.
A longer stint in the financial inclusion space followed, but since 2023, Jayottam has been exploring the applications of earth observation in scientific forest management. This latest chapter has brought him right back to his two favorite subjects: nature conservation and technology.
Today, his busy professional life is dotted with short getaways to National Parks and nature retreats—where he's happiest watching a dusty forested road, tracking tigers, and soaking in all things nature.
ForestStar, this platform is Jayottam’s way of giving back to the earth. The objective is simple: build this application the old-school way, grounded, objective and entirely free of sensationalism or addictive hooks. The core philosophy is calm. His goal is to inspire people to explore nature in whatever capacity they can through bite-sized content, while remaining entirely open to feedback & inspiration!
“Every forest has stories that rarely make it out.”
